Background

I have been working in a therapeutic setting with adults for over 25 years. In my early adult life I done a variety of jobs combining my work with volunteering supporting causes which were and still are important to me. I started my studies at Kensington College completing a diploma in counselling followed by a psychology degree with the Open University. Further on I developed my training at various stages including supervision training couple counselling and further trauma work. My interest and curiosity in human relationships guides what I do. My life experiences people I have worked and trained with over the years affirms the path I chose to work in. I love what I do.

Experience

I work with individuals couples and groups

Over the years I have worked with a variety of organisations covering individual therapeutic work running groups and provide supervision. At present I run my private practice working with individuals and couples. I am also employed by a Women organisation as a trauma specialist. I have over twenty five years experience working in recovery involving substance misuse problems. In my long term involvement with trauma work I have dealt with early life difficulties or more recent traumatic experiences including Post Traumatic Stress Disorders. Again I am familiar at helping clients who present a variety of difficulties. These can be depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, bereavement, loss, redundancy, relationships struggles, IVF difficulties, health problems, identity, gender, cultural issues and others.

The focus of my work with trauma is re-empowerment. Guide the way to rediscover the person present before traumatic experiences took hold. In substance recovery the aim to help unravel issues which may have lead to adapt destructive behaviour patterns. Reflect on choices ways to move from the struggle of dependency and maintain abstinence.

My humanistic approach based model defines personal empowerment the ability to heal reach fulfilment in our lives. In my work I encourage openness and transparency to rebuild trust aid self discovery and well being.
